Module 2
This activity will highlight the functional areas of nursing informatics while applying the roles/competencies of nursing informatics specialist.
Consider the 4 roles that nursing takes on as a knowledge worker: data gather, information user, knowledge user, and knowledge builder.
Select one of the functional areas of Nursing Informatics and reflect on how a nurse in that role would transition from data gatherer to knowledge builder. Discuss each role as it applies to the functional area you selected and provide an example to illustrate the role. What specific skills are required of the nurse to use this informatics/technology?
