Integrated circuits can contain collections of hundreds to billions of components, and are found in anything from spacecraft to childrens toys to cell phones and standard household tools. A number of processes are involved in realizing an integrated circuit from the conceptual stage to the final packaged device, including system design, circuit design, layout design etc., and cost, voltage supply, and power considerations.
Compose an essay on the current state of integrated circuit technologies. Identify an industry or category of product that depends on integrated circuits, and assess the current state of this important technology therein. Explain how the products produced by that industry operate and function, and evaluate how integrated circuits have been implemented in the respective industry. Trace the ways in which integrated circuit technology has developed and evolved over the years, as well as the ways in which this technology could develop into the future.
