· How has the upgrade from ICD-9 to ICD-10 changed healthcare billing?

          – The upgrade now allows for more in-depth codes that describe the diagnosis more specifically, so the amount of codes quadrupled, which made a lot of medical coders retire due to resistance. Things were definitely problematic for many medical coders who graduated right around the transition date, since they were primarily taught ICD-9.

· Has this change improved the ability to bill for care and ultimately get the providers reimbursed ?

          – The upgrade makes reimbursement easier since the codes are more specific and highly detailed.

· Who benefited the most by this upgrade?

         - I believe this change benefited providers the most. They now have higher chances of being reimbursed properly and have a more accurate way to describe each diagnosis.

The update from ICD-9 to ICD-10 increased the level of granularity of diagnosis descriptions contained within the medical code set.

This change improved the ability to bill for care and ultimately get the providers reimbursed because the codes are more specific which allows insurance companies to reimburse based on case specifics.

The benefit of this update should be positively received by insurance companies, patients, and providers since trust in the accuracy of medical bills increased with the improved granularity of the codes at the center of the reimbursement process.

· How has the upgrade from ICD-9 to ICD-10 changed healthcare billing?

· The upgrade from ICD-9 to ICD-10 has brought several changes to healthcare billing. One of the most significant changes is that ICD-10 codes are much more specific and detailed than ICD-9 codes. This means that medical claims submitted using ICD-10 codes can convey more information about the nature and severity of a patient's condition and can provide a more accurate representation of the care that was provided. This increased detail can lead to better reimbursement for providers.

· Has this change improved the ability to bill for care and ultimately get the providers reimbursed?

· The ability to bill for care and ultimately get the providers reimbursed was improved by the upgrade, as ICD-10 codes are more specific and provide more details which allows insurance companies to process the claims more accurately and providers to get more precise reimbursement.

· Who benefited the most by this upgrade?

· Providers, insurance companies, and patients all benefited from this upgrade. Patients are less likely to receive denied claims and more likely to receive proper reimbursement for the care they received. Hospitals and other healthcare facilities have also benefited from the upgrade, as it allows them to bill for a wider range of services and procedures, which can help to increase their revenue.

· How has the upgrade from ICD-9 to ICD-10 changed healthcare billing?

· The upgrade from ICD-9 to ICD-10 has changed healthcare billing by now offering thousands of more terms and codes to be applied to describe a diagnosis. The codes of ICD-10 offer more data and more complexity to help with identifying certain health conditions, which will help physicians and other clinical staff better determine treatment.

· Has this change improved the ability to bill for care and ultimately get the providers reimbursed?

· I think this change has helped improve the ability to bill for care by using the codes that most accurately describes the patient's health situation and type of care they will be receiving. The data from the codes that determine patient medical situation and treatment will then be used by payers and policymakers to determine reimbursement for providers.

· Who benefited the most by this upgrade?

· I think that patients and physicians both benefited the most by this upgrade. ICD-10 has helped providers have a better understanding on the patient's medical situation to ensure the right treatment is provided. This improves the patient's quality of care and helps make sure the patient is correctly billed for what services are provided.
