policy 8-2 response to genisis

Hello Class,

Taking this nursing course has been an enlightening journey, filled with valuable insights and practical knowledge that I can apply to my future nursing career. One of the major takeaways from this course has been the importance of evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing. Learning about the significance of integrating the best available evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences has highlighted the critical role of research in improving patient outcomes (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019). Another key learning point was the emphasis on patient-centered care, which underscores the importance of recognizing and respecting the unique needs and preferences of each individual (Institute of Medicine, 2001). This course also introduced me to the complexities of healthcare systems and policy frameworks, emphasizing the role of nurses in advocating for policies that promote patient safety and equitable access to care (American Nurses Association, 2019).

Throughout this course, several surprises challenged my preconceived notions about nursing practice. One such surprise was the breadth of opportunities available within the nursing profession. From direct patient care to leadership roles in healthcare management and policy-making, nursing offers a diverse range of career paths that align with different interests and aspirations (American Nurses Association, 2020). Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised by the extent to which technology has transformed the field of nursing, facilitating communication, patient monitoring, and information management to enhance the quality and efficiency of care delivery (Nagle et al., 2017).

As I transition into my nursing career, I am committed to applying the knowledge and skills gained from this course to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. I will strive to incorporate evidence-based practice into my clinical decision-making process, continually seeking out the latest research findings to inform my practice and improve patient outcomes (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019). Moreover, I recognize the importance of advocating for policies that address healthcare disparities and promote health equity, and I am eager to actively engage in policy-making processes to effect positive change in healthcare delivery (American Nurses Association, 2019).

In conclusion, this nursing course has equipped me with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills that will guide me in my nursing career. By embracing evidence-based practice, prioritizing patient-centered care, and advocating for policy changes, I am confident that I can make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and contribute to advancing the nursing profession.
