CORRECTIONS TO FOLLOW: Please review the MLA formatting lecture as your essay title should not be in quotes or in bold. Your introduction is very interesting, however intros for this essay should include the relevant texts and authors, which you have not presented in your intro. Additionally you don’t really have a clear and concise thesis statement that is presenting a definition of both terms and the importance of distinguishing between the two. You address this throughout your intro, but it is not done in a distinguishable thesis. Your first topic sentence is a very interesting argument but it is not one that addresses the present prompt of defining pleasure and happiness. Please be sure to review the function and format of body paragraphs with me and or our embedded tutor. As a stated in the prompt, you should not be discussing how a person pursues and or achieves happiness or pleasure in this essay. Reading through this essay, you are very obviously a good writer, however you have not completed the assignment at hand. Please be sure to read The Prompt carefully and closely. This essay is essentially asking you to define happiness and pleasure based on the McMahon, Kid Cudi, Ricard and additional texts. From these pieces, find what the authors are claiming. Are these claims valid? As in, when Kid Cudi shows himself at a party, drinking, and being surrounded by beautiful people, he is implying that this equates happiness; however, has this been established as true?

Just to clarify, the prompt of this essay asks “what differentiates happiness and pleasure.” It isnt asking what your definition of happiness is. It isnt asking what your judgment of these terms is. It isnt asking what a person needs to get or obtain happiness. It is asking what IS happiness, what IS pleasure, and how are they different.

Possible questions for you to consider:

Is happiness a feeling?

Is happiness a state of mind?

Does it vary from person to person?

How long does happiness last? How long does pleasure last?

Is happiness more meaningful than pleasure? If so why?
